So we know that summer is sadly bidding us farewell, much much much too soon, because despite it being a Covid summer, we can probably all agree that the sunshine and warm summer winds did us all a lot of good. But let’s just pause for a second and think back on some of our favourite moments… lying on a beach or sitting in a deck chair overlooking a shimmering lake with a good book in hand. But what kind of bathing suit fits into this dream scenario?
Is it a sexy two piece with a low rise skimpy bottom, perhaps just your average sporty bikini with a mid rise bottom, maybe a full bum one piece or possibly a high-waisted two piece with crop top? We are big fans of all of these swimsuit styles; in fact, we’re pretty lucky to have so many options to choose from these days that accentuate the beautiful aspects of all different body types.
But let’s face it, so many of us wear a specific style of swimsuit or other type of clothing not because we want to show parts of our bodies off, but just the opposite, because we want to cover something up. Here at The Plastic Surgery Clinic where we love to celebrate bodies, we think that’s just a damn shame. It’s a damn shame that there are so many of us out there who feel insecure or anxious about the way we look, and feel like we need to hide under clothes that don’t reflect our sense of style.
One of the most common areas we find that people feel insecure about is the area around the waist and abdomen. We often see patients come in who are in great shape and keep up a healthy life style but are still unhappy with the way their stomach looks. They may have some excess or stretched skin possibly due to pregnancy or simply stubborn fat that just won’t go away no matter how much they exercise. For some of these patients we recommend a mini tummy tuck. Here’s why.
What is a Mini Tummy Tuck?
We all dream of a flat, smooth, gorgeous abdomen, and some of us can get there with exercise and healthy eating habits, and some of us despite these efforts need just that little extra help. Here’s the thing: if you have excess or stretched skin, sadly no matter how much you might try to get rid of it on your own, it’s just not possible.
We find some patients a little hesitant to go for the full tummy tuck, and given the extent of the surgery, the recovery time, and size of the scar, we get this. The good news is that if all you need is a minimal amount of contouring, as well as a small amount of skin and fat removal, and your abdominal muscles are intact (in other words your abdominal muscles don’t need to be tightened or repaired after pregnancy), then the mini tummy tuck is your go to procedure that can render some beautiful results.
It isn’t a substitute for a full tummy tuck, which typically removes large amounts of fat and excess skin, and includes the repair of the muscles of your abdominal wall, but it does guarantee less surgery, a shorter recovery time, and much less scarring. What it doesn’t promise is the really dramatic kind of results we regularly see with a full tummy tuck.
The biggest difference between the mini and full tummy tuck is that in most cases your belly button doesn’t need to be removed and then stitched back into place. We know this sounds a little intense, but our surgeons are the best and you should see some of our full tummy tuck before and after photos, the navel is back in its place and looks gorgeous.
With the mini tummy tuck, however, there’s often no need to move the belly button. All the magic in a mini tummy tuck happens between the incision line (which is usually made just at the base of your abdomen) and the navel.
The Cost of a Mini Tummy Tuck
So let’s talk budget. Another reason we love the mini tummy tuck is that it can be a more affordable option for people who aren’t looking for as dramatic a result. At The Plastic Surgery Clinic the mini tummy tuck cost starts at $8,900—about $2,000 less than the full tummy tuck. We also offer a number of financing options in order to alleviate some of the financial pressure that might come with a big decision like this one, and although cheaper than a full tummy tuck, we know that this is still a considerable cost.
That said, we don’t want our patients to ever underestimate themselves. We have found that our patients see this is an investment in themselves, their self-confidence, and a celebration of who they are. You just can’t put a price on that.
Mini Tummy Tuck Before and After Photos
Still need a little convincing? We wholeheartedly agree that you should never rush into any decision that you don’t feel 100 percent comfortable with. This is your body, your look, your life. We find that many patients feel more at ease once they can picture their result.
One way you can get a better idea of whether or not this procedure is right for you is by booking a consult. When you come in for a free consultation with our surgeons, you’ll have a chance to look through some of our mini tummy tuck before and after photos. Because everyone is different your result won’t be identical to what you see, but you’ll get an idea of what we’ve achieved in other cases. Behind these pictures are some truly transformative stories which some of our amazing patients have been kind enough to share.
You are welcome to come and ask as many questions as you need. Your surgeon can explain what a mini tummy tuck can realistically achieve for you, and discuss whether your goals could be best met with a mini or full tummy tuck procedure. We can’t wait to meet you!
Did we answer all your questions? Our goal is to ensure you have the best information possible to make your decision. If you still have questions, we’re here to help.
