Natural Looking Breast Augmentation
September 20, 2013
There has definitely been a trend toward more natural-looking cosmetic procedures over the last few years. It makes perfect sense: the decision to make a transformation is a very personal one. So many of my patients come in for consultations because they want to feel more confident and comfortable in their own skin. I can’t think of a better way to achieve this than by delivering results that look natural and realistic.
When it comes to augmentation, natural looking breast implants can mean different things for different women. In the same day, I might see one patient whose main goal is to increase the overall size and fullness of her breasts and another patient who is looking to breast implants to counteract the effects of breastfeeding on her body. If both of these women were to ask me which kind of implant would give her the most realistic result, it’s entirely possible that I would have a different answer for each of them. There are a number of different factors that determine which type of implant will work best for each individual woman, and that’s why the consultation process is so important.
And while there might not be a one-size-fits-all solution for the most natural looking breast implants, there are methods we can use during every procedure that will always enable me to construct a breast that has the most natural appearance possible. All of my patients who come in for breast enlargement are busy women who are constantly on the go and always on their feet – I’ve never seen a woman come into our clinic who spent most of her life lying down. So it doesn’t make sense to perform the surgery with the patient in a horizontal position when we want a result that looks beautifully shaped in an upright position, too. That’s why I always perform the operation with the patient sitting up so I can make all the adjustments necessary to create a really beautiful, natural, and realistic shape. Sure, it’s a little more work and it takes more time, but it’s absolutely worth it.
For me, there’s nothing more fun than helping a patient feel good about herself. The easiest way to do that is to create a result that looks perfectly natural and suited to her body, more like herself than like cosmetic surgery. People should be noticing her confidence, not her breast implants.
