You might think that Dr. Lista is all about surgery (which mostly he is 😉) but he is also a huge fan of and recognizes the importance of a healthy skincare routine. And let’s face it, Dr. Lista has pretty awesome skin, so he clearly knows what he’s talking about.
We are finally FINALLY transitioning from winter to spring. YAY! Anyone else feel like this was an epically looong, grey winter 🙋♀️
Well, the winter weather has probably done a bit of a number on our skin, but with the right amount of TLC it’s not hard to get it back on track.
What people forget is that just as we shed our winter wardrobe for our spring-wear, we also need to transition our lifestyle and skincare regimen from one season to the next. So here are Dr. Lista’s spring skin tips to help you shift over as smoothly as possible.
SPF, SPF, SPF!
Sometimes, Dr. Lista can’t believe he’s reminding people of this, but spring means more outdoor time and more sunshine. And if you haven’t been wearing your SPF, now is the time to start! So many early sunburns happen in the spring! And be sure to wear the SPF on cloudy days too—those UV rays are still coming through.
We can’t stress this enough, but the sun can really wreak havoc on your skin, leaving you with sun spots, dry, leathery skin, and will unnecessarily age you, so just make applying that SPF a part of your daily routine.
And for those of you who have microbladed brows, make sure you put SPF on your brows too. Oh and speaking of brows, if you have had bad microblading that you want to get rid of ASAP, we can remove that with our PicoWay technology. Spring is a great time to get this done.
Switch Things Up!
Some people notice their skin getting finicky with the change from winter to spring. This is totally normal! You may need to switch things up.
Your skin may not feel as dry rolling into spring, simply due to the fact that things are warming up and the air in itself is less dry. If you use our favourite skincare line, Miracle 10, you may have been using Rich Moisture or Moisture over the winter. If you feel these are feeling a little heavy, switch to Moisture from Rich Moisture, or from Moisture to Light Serum.
If you’ve been using Solution I to be a little gentler on the winter skin, spring is a great time to step up to the next level with Solution II, which will work to gently exfoliate your skin and also rid it of any unwanted blemishes or sun damage.
Enzyme and Mask are amazing year round products, so if you’ve already got them as part of your routine, that’s awesome. If you haven’t discovered Enzyme and Mask, then spring is a great time to test them out and give your skin an overall boost. These two products either used back to back or on their own, will leave your skin incredibly soft and glowing.
Because we’re dealing with less harsh environmental factors during the spring it’s really a great time to introduce more active ingredients into your skincare routine. Just a small amount of Retinol goes a super long way to get things going, really working to minimize those fine lines and wrinkles. Start with Retinol Treatment 30 and then work your way up to Retinol Treatment 60 if your skin is ready for it.
Keep Up Your Go-To In-Clinic Treatments
The best skincare routine is one that combines and balances a good at-home skincare regimen with in-clinic treatments. You don’t necessarily have to switch things up in this department if the treatments that you’re having are ones that work for you. We’re just saying don’t all of a sudden stop because it’s spring and you feel like the season does less damage to your skin.
We especially recommend keeping up your Botox or other neuromodulator treatments. Botox needs to be done on a regular basis, every 3-4 months, in order for you to truly reap its benefits.
We highly highly recommend keeping up with your Miracle 10 Facial Peel treatments and/or the ever relaxing Essential Facial. These treatments will fill in where Botox can’t. Botox will treat your wrinkles, but will not boost the integrity of your skin or treat specific skin concerns like acne, hyperpigmentation, rosacea or melasma.
Another go-to treatment that Dr. Lista loves, especially if you’re looking for something new, is the Forma Facial, either as a one off treatment for a nice skin glow before an event or as a more regular treatment for some high quality skin tightening results.
