Dr. Ahmad Invited as Visiting Professor to Stanford University

I was recently invited by Stanford University as a visiting professor to lecture to the faculty and residents in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Stanford University is in Palo Alto, California, between San Francisco and San Jose. It was founded in 1885 and has become one of the world’s leading research universities. It is known for its entrepreneurial character and its relationship to Silicon Valley. The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford University is a large program providing care for adults and children requiring complex reconstructive surgery. The postgraduate plastic surgery training program is very large with close to 30 residents and fellows.

Dr. Ahmad Lecturing at Stanford University

Since 2016, I have had the honour of serving in the prestigious position as a Travelling Professor for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). As such, I am asked to visit Plastic Surgery residency training programs across North America and lecture about a variety of topics in aesthetic plastic surgery. At Stanford University, I was asked to lecture about my experience performing rhinoplasty. I covered some of what was written in my two landmark textbooks Dallas Rhinoplasty: Nasal Surgery by the Masters, 3rd Edition and Secondary Rhinoplasty by the Global Masters. In particular, I spoke about pre- and postoperative management of rhinoplasty patients and, also, about key concepts and technical aspects to make rhinoplasty surgery consistently successful. The modern approach to rhinoplasty involves creating a natural appearing result while restoring structural support for a well-functioning nasal airway, as well as an aesthetic result.

It was great spending time in Palo Alto and having an opportunity to tour the campus. The campus is set amongst picturesque rolling hills and forest. It is warm and sunny all year round.
