Dear Dr. Lista:
Thank you for your e-mail of February 16 detailing the reconstructive surgery your medical team is providing at the Haitian Community Hospital.
I am deeply proud of the remarkable work being undertaken by Canadians, and I regret that my short visit to Haiti did not permit the opportunity to dialogue with you first hand about the challenges you are facing.
I have shared your correspondence with the Hon. Bev Oda, Minister of International Cooperation. Should you wish to engage in discussions centered on the particularities of funding related issues I would encourage you to dialogue directly with her office.
In the interim, rest assured that our Government will continue to engage in a wide-range of humanitarian responses. On a personal note, your extraordinary efforts are making a real difference in the lives of those in need, and I commend your dedication.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to write.
Sincerely,
The Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper, P.C., M.P Prime Minister of Canada
