Plastic surgeons aren’t just experts in surgery. They’re also pretty on top of their game when it comes to non-surgical treatments and have plenty of tips for having great skin. There’s a misconception that just because someone is a surgeon they’ll automatically favour a surgical approach. But it’s actually quite the opposite.
At The Plastic Surgery Clinic, we try to recommend non-surgical options whenever we can, since the risks of surgery are always greater than a non-invasive approach. Don’t get us wrong, we love surgery and helping our patients achieve their desired look—especially if they’re the perfect candidate for a surgical procedure—but if what you’re looking for is having great skin and skin rejuvenation treatments, there are so many amazing non-surgical options out there.
And don’t think our plastic surgeons don’t enjoy great skin too! In fact, Dr. Lista is especially into great skincare and has dabbled in some treatments himself.
Here are some of his top faves.
The Forma Facial
If you’re looking for a non-invasive skin tightening treatment then the Forma Facial is definitely at the top of Dr. Lista’s list. The Forma Facial is a big favourite because it’s great for pretty much anyone at any age and with any skin type.
Forma uses bipolar radiofrequency technology in order to contract skin tissue making it look firmer and tighter. What we really enjoy about this treatment is that it’s super effective at addressing skin laxity, but it can also simply be a treatment to maintain your current skin integrity.
We love that just after one treatment your skin looks immediately brighter, firmer, and has that special glow, and can be a great way to give the skin a boost before a glam event. If you’re looking for more long term skin tightening results, we recommend a series of six treatments, with results lasting for about a year. And the best part is there’s essentially no downtime.
Miracle 10 Peel Treatments
Our signature Miracle 10 facial peel treatments are such a great and relaxing way to maintain great skin. Who doesn’t want to be pampered with a facial massage and amazing products for 45 minutes?
Our peel treatments are super effective for maintaining healthy skin, but are also a great way to keep acne breakouts at bay or to target skin concerns like melasma. Miracle 10 peel treatments are specially tailored to your skin type and will never leave your skin looking red or raw, only glowy. We also employ a unique dermaplaning approach for deep exfoliation in combination with a number of glorious Miracle 10 skincare products.
Dr. Lista has actually had Sculptra done himself and loves the results. Since he’s such a busy guy, we haven’t had a chance to get his full before and after photos but both he, Dr. Goyal and Dr. Chbat, our Co-Medical Directors at MD Beauty Clinic, have all noticed a huge difference in the quality and texture of his skin.
Sculptra is a dermal filler unlike any other. Its active ingredient isn’t hyaluronic acid (HA) like most dermal fillers, but something called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Rather than acting as a direct filler in order to target volume loss and skin laxity, it actually works as a stimulatory filler, getting your body to renew the structural integrity of the skin with more collagen and elastin production.
It’s super effective if you have areas of the face that are sunken or to target deep facial folds or depressions. It’s also great at smoothing out those fine lines and wrinkles and just making your skin look and feel really healthy.
The catch with Sculptra is that it takes a little time to see the results. It’s not like other dermal fillers where you walk out of your treatment session seeing a notable difference. Sculptra takes about 3-6 months to yield optimal results and about three treatment sessions. Your body needs time to build-up all those great elements like collagen to keep that skin looking amazing. But it’s definitely worth the wait, just ask Dr. Lista!

Miracle 10 Skincare
The key to great skin is not only about the treatments you choose to do in-clinic, but also how well you take care of your skin at home. Choosing high quality products to maintain your skin texture and quality is central to keeping up those results you got in-clinic at home.
That’s why we love Miracle 10 skincare products that keep the skin hydrated, exfoliated, clean and bright. The skin like any other part of the body needs to be exercised and stimulated, and that’s exactly what a good at home skincare routine does.
Botox
No surprise here! Botox is part of the regular skincare routine for many of you, just as it is for Dr. Lista. In fact, Nurse Sylvia did his last treatment. Botox relaxes the muscles in the face in order to soften fine lines and wrinkles and to give the skin a smoother appearance.
Many patients use Botox in a preventative way, because they know they are deep squinters and frowners, but it can also be used for so many other indications from giving the face a subtle non-surgical lift to softening the chin and jawline.
