Debunking the Non-Surgical Butt Lift

Many of you may have already heard about something called the non-surgical butt lift, with non-surgical being the operative word here. The concept has been raising some brows and likely grabbing your attention.

Well, it’s true and it’s real! You can now get a booty boost non-surgically via dermal filler injections to the bum. Picture getting a filler treatment for the face. Now just imagine getting those injections in the behind, and that’s pretty much what we’re talking about when we describe the non-surgical butt lift.

The non-surgical butt lift improves the shape of the buttocks, adding contour and definition, smoothing out textural irregularities, and adding subtle amounts of volume via injectable fillers.

As much as we love this new treatment, there are some misconceptions and misunderstandings surrounding the non-surgical butt lift, and we just want to get some facts about it straight, so that you know what to expect if you’re seeking out this particular procedure. Because there’s nothing worse than thinking you’re going to get one kind of result when you’re really getting something quite different.

I Can Only Have the Non-Surgical Butt Lift Done with Sculptra

So if you’re not recognizing the name “non-surgical butt lift” that’s because this treatment is more popularly known as the Sculptra butt lift. Sculptra, a stimulatory filler composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), is the filler that is most commonly used for a non-surgical butt lift, but many people think it’s the only one that we can use, and that’s actually not the case.

A non-surgical butt lift can equally be done with Radiesse. Radiesse works similarly to Sculptra but it’s composed of something called calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). The differences between the two lie in how much volume they build and collagen they produce.

Radiesse tends to offer quicker results because it acts more as a traditional filler that adds volume while also stimulating collagen production though less than Sculptra, whereas Sculptra stimulates a lot of collagen production but also regenerates tissue, improving on the overall structural integrity of the tissue in the buttocks over time.

Keep in mind that neither of these fillers can be dissolved like standard hyaluronic acid (HA) based fillers, so once you decide on a non-surgical butt lift, be prepared to live with your results for at least two years.

Results Are Immediate with a Non-Surgical Butt Lift

Yes… and no. Radiesse tends to give more noticeable results immediately after treatment, because it does add volume to targeted areas. Sculptra, on the other hand, doesn’t fill the area with volume but rather encourages collagen production in the areas where it’s been injected as well as builds scar tissue, meaning that it takes a little while longer to see results, as your body needs time to build up the elements that will give and maintain the desired result.

That said, optimal results for both Radiesse and Sculptra are usually noticeable after about 3-4 weeks following your final treatment session.

I Will Get Similar Results to a Brazilian Butt Lift

FALSE. This is the most important misconception we want to debunk about the non-surgical butt lift. This treatment is in NO WAY going to get you a similar result to a surgical butt lift also known as the Brazilian but lift, where fat is harvested from one area of the body and re-injected into target areas of the bum.

The results of a non-surgical butt lift are SUBTLE. That’s not to say that they’re not good or not there, just to say that if you’re looking for a more dramatic increase in lift and volume, the only way you’re going to achieve that result is surgically.

Before and after 1 session of 9 vials of Sculptra. A second treatment will be required, results will continue to improve.

The non-surgical butt lift is great for anyone looking to add small amounts of volume and lift to the bum, increase their collagen production, and improve on the structural integrity of the skin, giving the bum an overall better and smoother shape.

Before and after 1 session of 9 vials of Sculptra. A second treatment will be required, results will continue to improve.

I’ll Have to Be Prepared for Some Recovery Time

Nope! This is possibly the best part of the treatment. There’s really no down time. Your bum might be tender or sore for a few days, and there might be some mild swelling or bruising, but generally you can go back to your regular activities right after treatment. Maybe no strenuous exercise for about 24-48 hours after, but everything else is more or less a go.

This is quite possibly the biggest advantage over the surgical option. The Brazilian butt lift can deliver a more dramatic result, but requires a much more intensive recovery process, including not lying or sitting on your bum for a few weeks after surgery.

I Only Need One Treatment

Everyone’s different, but in order to get optimal results you’ll probably need anywhere between 1 and 3 treatment sessions, and most patients will need anywhere from 5-10 vials injected per treatment. It’s honestly rare to get the perfect result with only one treatment. 3 is really optimal and then we recommend maintenance treatments every 2 years or so.

The Results of a Non-Surgical Butt Lift Are Permanent

No, unfortunately. Results of a non-surgical butt lift are pretty decent but not permanent. They can last anywhere from 2-5 years, with maintenance treatments every 2 years like we mentioned above. But again if you’re looking for more longevity or permanence in your result, and a more dramatic change, then surgery is really the only way to go.
