The gamut of non-surgical treatments in the cosmetic industry has grown exponentially in the past decade or so. And their popularity, particularly among celebrities, has also really exploded. This is no surprise. Most people want to avoid surgery for as long as possible if they can. Even a lot of celebs!
And we totally agree. We’re never going to tell you that you need surgery if you don’t, but we’ll also tell you whether a non-surgical result will realistically achieve what you’re looking for.
Radiofrequency treatments are at the cutting edge of the newest minimally-invasive as well as non-invasive procedures and pioneering the future of non-surgical face and body contouring and tightening procedures.
Many of these revolutionary technologies and treatments have even gotten the attention of some of the most iconic faces populating our feeds, from Kim Kardashian and her sister Kourtney, to Chrissy Teigen, and reality stars like Cynthia Bailey. We’ll be running down some of their favourite skin tightening and resurfacing treatments.
We’ve got to hand it to Kim Kardashian for being at the forefront of trying new cosmetic treatments and being so candid about them. She is famous for trying out LOTS of different treatments to play with her look. She was even an early adopter of PRP (platelet-rich plasma) microneedling facial treatments aka the vampire facial.
Even though the science behind the vampire facial has improved a lot since she had the treatment, she was definitely the first celeb to really put it on the map as an alternative and more natural way to boost collagen and improve on the overall quality of your skin.
Despite her anxiety around microneedling treatments – when she got the vampire facial she was pregnant and couldn’t have any anesthetic, ouch – Kim has had regular Morpheus8 body treatments, particularly to tighten and lift the skin in areas around her abdomen, arms, and legs. It’s also a great treatment if you want to get rid of stretch marks and mild tummy fullness.
Morpheus8 is a unique treatment in which microneedling is combined with radiofrequency technology, and has the capability to penetrate the skin at a deeper level than regular microneedling treatments. Morpheus8 is typically a treatment for the face that can address a variety of skin concerns from hyperpigmentation to acne scarring, but it can also be really effective in firming up tissue on most areas of the body.
During Kim’s Morpheus8 treatment on her abdomen, she mentions some discomfort but clarifies that it’s not so bad. And it’s true that procedures that achieve the most effective and transformative results are often a little more invasive than others. This means that they can be felt, but are typically tolerable and we’ll do whatever we can to put you most at ease.
Both Kim and her sister Kourtney have opted for Forma skin tightening facial treatments. This kind of treatment makes perfect sense for Kourtney in particular, as she is known for being more into health and wellness as a lifestyle and generally tends to prefer less invasive procedures. Not that she’s against surgery! She’s talked a lot about undergoing a breast augmentation after all, but she likes to seek out other more natural ways to improve on the quality of the skin. She is a huge and longtime fan of microneedling, too.
So there’s no surprise that she would choose a treatment like Forma, which is a very chill, non-invasive treatment that combines heat and radiofrequency technology in order to tighten underlying tissue and boost collagen production in the face. You can think of it as a type of non-surgical facelift, where the result is a lifting and tightening of the skin on your face at deep and superficial levels.
What’s unique about Forma is that it also has the capability to remodel the skin, resulting in a more contoured and sculpted look, especially in the areas of the cheekbones and jawline. Overall your skin is a lot brighter and rejuvenated and does really look like it has gotten a little lift.
Kim and Kourtney are not the only celebs to love Forma. Chrissy Teigen has also been super open about her Forma treatments. Generally the star has been extremely open about her cosmetic procedures from getting Botox in her armpits to stave off excessive sweating to having her breast implants removed.
And we were recently super surprised to hear that Chrissy actually had a buccal fat removal procedure as well. This is a procedure where the fat pads just underneath the cheek hollows is removed in order to slim down the face, and give more definition to the cheeks and jawline.
We’re not surprised that Chrissy had the surgery, we’re just in awe of her gorgeous, very natural results. If she hadn’t mentioned it, even we seasoned plastic surgery experts may not have detected that she had anything done. And Teigen is pretty impressed with her results too saying: “I like it. Yeah, I did it, what?” and that there’s “no shame in my game.” No shame at all!
This Real Housewives star is a big fan of BodyTite by InMode. BodyTite is a treatment that uses radiofrequency technology sub-dermally in order to melt fat and tighten the skin in most areas of the body. It is sometimes paired with liposuction in order to remove the melted fat cells.
For Cynthia, BodyTite treatments have been a big motivator for her to stay fit and healthy. Sometimes no matter how much you exercise and eat well, you still have stubborn pockets of fat or some excess skin that you feel you need a little extra help with.
What she loves most about BodyTite is that it’s not super invasive, there’s minimum downtime (she’s usually back at work 2 days following her treatment), and it actually works. She sees results that encourage her to maintain her healthy lifestyle.
It’s important to keep in mind though, that if any of these treatments have sparked your interest, you need a skilled practitioner. Even though it’s not surgery, most radiofrequency treatments like BodyTite and FaceTite require surgical expertise. And at our practice, only a doctor will perform these procedures.
So if you’re thinking about any one of these treatments come to The Plastic Surgery Clinic for a complimentary consultation and to find out more. We’ve got the surgical expertise that will get you the best possible result in the safest and most effective way. It’s important to remember that all non-surgical treatments, though less invasive than surgery, still come with risks. Wherever you go, ensure that you choose a provider that reviews the risks as well as the benefits of these treatments with you thoroughly before you make any decisions to proceed.
