What is a Non-Surgical Facelift?

If you’re looking to soften the signs of aging and create a well-rested and refreshed overall appearance, but you don’t want or require the more invasive aspects of a surgical procedure such as a facelift, then a non-surgical facelift or liquid facelift may be the perfect solution for you.

This non-invasive treatment is totally customized to your goals and your needs and is ideal for treating fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss. We create an individual treatment plan for you that uses a combination of cosmetic injectables, including injections for wrinkles and dermal fillers, that help to smooth out the look of the skin and create or enhance facial contours. We are able to target fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, the brows and the forehead, while also addressing laugh lines, marionette lines or the nasolabial folds.

In addition to smoothing out the skin, we can enhance features like the jawline, chin or lips that help to create a more youthful profile, or to simply achieve a more contoured look according to your goals or desires. The non-surgical facelift can also be a combination treatment of a non-surgical thread lift as well as injectables depending on your needs and goals. Your provider may also recommend PRP/PRF.

Because non-surgical facelifts are non-invasive and do not require surgery, you’re able to come in for a quick and easy appointment without having to plan for the more intensive recovery and healing process associated with surgery. However, unlike with surgery, if you wish to maintain your new look, you will need to schedule maintenance appointments as your body metabolizes the injectable products and their effects wear off.

How Your Non-Surgical Facelift is Performed

As with all of our injectable treatments, your liquid facelift is performed using fine needles to make very strategically placed injections. Most of these products are formulated with lidocaine, a numbing anesthetic that helps you feel comfortable throughout the treatment process.

Your expert injector is able to strategize the ideal placement, number and type of injections for your treatment plan based on an in-person consultation with you. You will need to provide your injector with your medical history during this consultation that includes a list of any surgical procedures, chronic conditions, allergies or other factors relevant to your medical history. You will also need to let them know about any over-the-counter or prescription medications and vitamins or supplements you are taking.

This information is helpful to your injector as they will provide you with the best recommendations for your health and safety, while also helping you achieve the best result. For example, the use of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory ibuprofen (or Advil) typically makes patients more prone to bruising, so we ask that you discontinue its use for one week prior to your injections.

Recovery After a Non-Surgical Facelift

You can expect to the see results of your non-surgical facelift  immediately following your treatment. Your final result will continue to improve and settle in over the two weeks that follow. At that point we can see you for a follow up appointment in case there are any small tweaks that you or your injector would like to make in order to make sure we’re achieving as many of your goals as possible.

You may experience some very minuscule bruising or a little bit of redness near the site of any injections, but every patient is different. If you do, these areas are typically very small, resolve shortly after treatment, and in the meantime, are easily covered up with makeup if desired. Filler injections can sometimes produce slight swelling, tenderness, or sensitivity, or a slight itching feeling. These symptoms are typically mild and usually resolve within a week.

How Long Will a Non-Surgical Facelift Last?

We love the versatility of injectable products, but with that versatility comes a less permanent outcome. However, results can be maintained with regularly scheduled maintenance injections that are again customized to your treatment goals.

Anti-wrinkle neuromodulators like Botox usually lose effect after 3 to 4 months. Dermal fillers have greater longevity but are affected by where they are injected. Filler injected around the lips or mouth will usually need a touchup after about 6 months, while filler in the cheeks can last as long as 2 years. Your injector will help determine a plan that works for you. And if you decide to stop receiving your maintenance treatments, there is no adverse effect—your face and skin will simply return to their pre-injection appearance.
